At the Conference summarizing the work of the Hanoi Red Cross Society and the voluntary blood donation movement in 2025, Mr. Le Tu Luc - Chairman of the Hanoi Women's Union - said that 2025 is a year of many difficulties when the capital is affected by natural disasters, floods and the process of transforming the two-level local government model.
However, overcoming challenges, the work of the Association and the blood donation movement continue to affirm their core role in the humanitarian activities of the capital. The total operating value of the entire system reached more than 221 billion VND, directly supporting over 268,000 people in difficult circumstances.
The HMTN movement alone received 338,298 units of blood, reaching 107% of the plan, contributing significantly to ensuring blood supply for emergency care and treatment of patients.
The blood donation movement last year recorded many positive marks thanks to the proactiveness of the Steering Committee for Mobilizing Social Affairs at all levels and the participation of agencies and units in the area. The organization is increasingly professional, focusing on the experience of donors, while promoting the application of information technology from registration to blood receipt.
Peak campaigns such as the Red Spring Festival, Blood Donation for Tet and Voluntary Blood Donation Day on April 7 attracted a large number of students, cadres, civil servants, armed forces and people to participate, contributing to creating a stable blood source in times of scarcity.
In addition to the achieved results, the Hanoi City Labor Union also pointed out some limitations. The implementation of the two-level government model has caused many communes and wards to have difficulty in organizing blood donation from June to September, reducing the amount of blood received compared to the usual method. Some units still have limitations in facilities, locations and propaganda work; the amount of blood received between months is not uniform, causing pressure on the receiving facilities.
From that practice, the Hanoi City Labor Union has identified 2026 as the year of focusing on consolidating and expanding the movement towards sustainability. The city will strengthen direction and investment in blood donation mobilization; complete the Steering Committees at the remaining units; and coordinate the organization of large-scale programs such as the Red Spring Festival, Red Sunday and Red Journey 2026.
Maintaining regular blood donation activities in newly established communes and wards, promoting blood donation during Tet and summer - times of frequent scarcity - is identified as a key solution. The work of caring for and honoring blood donors will continue to be focused on, especially through activities on the occasion of the International Day of Blood Donors June 14, 2026.
At the conference, 4 collectives and 3 outstanding individuals received Certificates of Merit from the Hanoi People's Committee. The Hanoi City Trade Union awarded certificates of merit to 42 collectives, 87 outstanding individuals in the HMTN movement and 200 outstanding individuals in the Association's work. In particular, 152 families were recognized as City-level Red Cross families - "c souls" spreading the spirit of humanity in the community.
The conference ended with the determination to continue to develop the blood donation movement of the capital widely, associated with the motto "Red Cross - For everyone, everywhere".
