Dong Thap Electronic Information Portal reported that on June 26, Provincial Party Secretary Le Quoc Phong - Head of the Steering Committee for the implementation of the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses in the province; Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Phan Van Thang; Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Tri Quang chaired a conference to summarize the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the province in 2025.
According to the report, implementing the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, up to now, Dong Thap has completed, accepted and put into use 2,159 units 100%), 1 month earlier than planned. Of which, households with meritorious services to the revolution have 605 houses; poor households and near-poor households have 1,554 houses. The total implementation cost is more than 189 billion VND (including state budget funding, socialization and family contributions).
In order to help the poor with housing needs to "set up a business", the whole province established 62 charity house building groups to participate in the implementation of the "Eliminate temporary houses" program with 934 members, thereby supporting more than 6,670 working days.
Dong Thap Provincial Party Secretary Le Quoc Phong emphasized that implementing the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses has created a widespread movement throughout society, thereby Dong Thap has completed the program earlier than planned.
The proactiveness and flexibility of all levels, sectors and the hearts and resources to support the implementation of the program from the social community have contributed to affirming the values in building the image of Dong Thap people - "honest, dynamic, creative".
In the coming time, the Secretary of the Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee requested localities to hand over the lists of supported houses for temporary and dilapidated houses to new communes and wards to continue supporting livelihoods, towards no more poor households in Dong Thap province.
Localities also continue to pay attention to supporting other groups of people with housing needs, implementing well activities to care for the poor, people in difficult circumstances, and disadvantaged people, so that no one is left behind.
On this occasion, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Dong Thap province presented Certificates of Merit to 8 collectives and 3 individuals who have made outstanding achievements in implementing the emulation movement "Joining hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in Dong Thap province in 2025".
