At the beginning of 2026, the Association coordinated with the Party Committee, government of Binh Minh commune (Hanoi) and media agencies to organize the Binh Da Festival, a national intangible cultural heritage of Hanoi, where the Noi Temple worships Duc Quoc To Lac Long Quan, to attract tourists and our compatriots abroad, encourage national pride, awareness of turning to the roots, and attachment to the homeland and country of our compatriots abroad. At the request of the National University of Saint Petersburg (Russia), the Association mobilized sponsorship, crafted and transported the statue of Uncle Ho to place it on the campus on May 19, 2026.
Promoting the role of a member organization of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Liaison Association with Overseas Vietnamese also actively participates in monitoring and criticizing the implementation and building of laws, especially laws related to the rights and responsibilities of overseas Vietnamese.
In the Conferences of the Presidium and the Central Committee, the Advisory Council on Foreign Affairs and Overseas Vietnamese of the Fatherland Front, in the Forums organized by the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs and the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Assembly, the Association has proposed to promote consideration of granting citizenship to Vietnamese people who have become citizens of other countries but have not yet revoked Vietnamese citizenship, except for those who go against the interests of the country, harm national security in accordance with the spirit of the 2008 Law on Citizenship, proposing to amend a number of articles of the 2008 Law on Citizenship to allow those who have revoked Vietnamese citizenship to become citizens of other countries to now return to Vietnamese citizenship because the host country has changed the law, allowing multi-nationality; proposing to amend the Land Law, Housing Law, Real Estate Business Law, and Inheritance Law in the direction that our compatriots abroad have rights and responsibilities similar to domestic citizens.
According to Resolution 66-NQ/TW on Innovation in law-making and law enforcement (April 30, 2025), many laws related to the rights and responsibilities of our compatriots abroad have been amended in a direction beneficial to our compatriots.
In terms of economy, the Association has built and operated the Forum to support investment of Vietnamese people abroad (INVESFOV) to introduce and provide verified information about projects calling for and attracting investment from our compatriots abroad and foreigners; has coordinated with the Vietnam Business Culture Association and community organizations in France to organize the Forum connecting domestic businesses with Vietnamese businesses in France and Europe, coordinated with the Vietnam Urban Planning and Development Association (VUPDA) to organize the Forum on restoring and exploiting the cultural and historical values of Long Bien Bridge and adjacent areas; coordinated with the Vietnam Automation Association (VAA) through the connection of Vietnamese experts abroad, bringing Vietnamese businesses to participate in the production and supply chain for leading aviation manufacturers in the world... On the other hand, the Association also actively connects with Vietnamese individuals and businesses in other countries to find outlets for Vietnamese agricultural products and goods.
