The Vietnam Women's Union said that it is implementing many programs to support capital, training, and market connection to help women start businesses and develop the economy in the locality.
Answering questions from Lao Dong Newspaper reporters at the press conference to quickly inform about the results of the 14th National Women's Congress on the afternoon of June 18 about solutions to support female migrant workers and poor women to start businesses, Ms. Tran Lan Phuong - Standing Vice President of the Vietnam Women's Union - said that this is an issue that the Union has paid special attention to for many years.
According to Ms. Phuong, reality shows that many female workers working in foreign-invested enterprises (FDI) when reaching the age of 35-40 or even earlier often have difficulty in continuing to maintain their jobs.
A part chooses to stay in urban areas to change careers, but many women want to return to their hometowns to start a business and stabilize their lives.
For returning women to have a stable life, the most important thing is to create sustainable livelihoods, have specific jobs and stable income sources to take care of families, implement gender equality in families as well as contribute to the economic development of the locality," Ms. Phuong emphasized.
According to leaders of the Vietnam Women's Union, in the past term, the Union has proactively advised the Government to issue many important projects to support women's economic development. Among them, there is the Project to support cooperatives managed and operated by women and the Project to support women's startups in the 2026-2035 period.
Previously, Project 939 on supporting women's startups in the 2017-2025 period had achieved many positive results. The Vietnam Women's Union was also the first organization to be approved by the Prime Minister for a project to support women's startups in the new period.
In addition to the Government's projects, the Association also participates in implementing many components in national target programs to enhance economic empowerment for women, especially poor women, ethnic minority women and vulnerable groups.
One of the highlights mentioned by Ms. Phuong is the Association's active implementation of the National Comprehensive Financial Strategy through entrustment activities with banks to bring policy credit capital to poor women and policy beneficiaries.
Through coordination programs, we support women to access capital, develop business ideas, boldly invest in production, create jobs and increase income. Associations at all levels always accompany women throughout the startup process," Ms. Phuong said.
Not only providing capital support, the Vietnam Women's Union also plays a bridge role between women and relevant agencies and units to remove difficulties in the business start-up process. From legal advice on establishing businesses and cooperatives, supporting policy access to connecting product consumption, all levels of the Union participate and accompany.
Notably, the Association also promotes a connection model between successful female entrepreneurs and women who are new to starting a business. Accordingly, experienced female entrepreneurs will become mentors, support product consumption, share management and business development experiences for vulnerable women.

Ms. Tran Lan Phuong said that in the period 2026-2035, the Vietnam Women's Union aims to build an ecosystem to comprehensively support women's startups, from accessing capital, knowledge, skills, legal documents to product consumption markets.
According to her, female migrant workers returning to their hometowns, poor women and women in ethnic minority areas are key target groups that will be prioritized for support in government projects, national target programs as well as activities that the Vietnam Women's Union is implementing.
We want and are determined to build an ecosystem to comprehensively support women's startups, thereby helping women have the opportunity to develop the economy, improve their quality of life and contribute more to the development of the locality and the country," Ms. Phuong affirmed.
Information at the press conference, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Women's Union Le Thi Thuy emphasized that the success of the Congress is the starting point, the most important thing is to bring the Congress Resolution into life, so that the goals and targets become specific and practical results at each level of the Union, in each cadre and member. Therefore, immediately after the Congress, the Central Union will focus on leading and coordinating the synchronous implementation of the Congress Resolution and the Action Program to implement the Congress Resolution with the spirit of urgency, drasticity, clarity of work, clarity of responsibility, clear roadmap and clear results to quickly bring the Resolution into life, creating substantive changes in the Women's Movement and Union work.
