On August 24, in Hanoi, Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Cao Xuan Thao received the delegation of the Lao Front for National Construction of Vientiane Capital led by Mr. Phongsavanh Siliphan, Member of the Central Committee of the Lao Front for National Construction, Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Lao Front for National Construction of Vientiane Capital as Head of the delegation.
At the reception, Vice Chairman Cao Xuan Thao expressed his pleasure to welcome the delegation to visit and work in Vietnam.
On this occasion, on behalf of the leaders of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Mr. Cao Xuan Thao sent his deepest condolences to the Central Committee of the Lao Front for National Construction, the Lao Front for National Construction of Vientiane Capital and the Lao people on the passing of Comrade Saysomphone Phomvihane, Chairman of the Lao National Assembly, former Chairman of the Central Committee of the Lao Front for National Construction.
Mr. Phongsavanh Siliphan said that this visit and working trip aims to exchange and evaluate the results of cooperation between the Lao Front Committee for National Construction of Vientiane Capital and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi City in the period 2023-2025.
According to Mr. Phongsavanh Siliphan, in the past time, the cooperative relationship between the two sides has achieved many practical results, contributing to fostering the friendly, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, and promoting the relationship between Hanoi Capital and Vientiane Capital.
The two sides have implemented many coordinated activities, including supporting scholarships for Lao children to study in Vietnam, providing some equipment to serve activities and sharing experiences in Front work.
Promoting the achieved results, the two sides plan to review, agree and sign a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation for the period 2026-2030. The content of cooperation continues to focus on exchanging experiences in Front work, supporting each other in social security, education, people-to-people exchanges and strengthening the connection between the people of the two Capitals.
Mr. Phongsavanh Siliphan wished to continue to receive the coordination and support of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, especially the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi City; and at the same time absorb practical experiences in Vietnam's Front work to apply appropriately to the conditions of Laos.
Highly appreciating the content of the delegation's exchange, Vice Chairman Cao Xuan Thao said that the visit shows the desire to strengthen understanding and substantive cooperation between the Fatherland Fronts of the two Capitals.
To effectively implement the cooperation direction in the coming time, Mr. Cao Xuan Thao proposed that the two sides strengthen the introduction and exchange of good models, practices and outstanding activities in Front work to learn and apply appropriately to practice.
The two sides also need to continue to promote traditional education and people-to-people exchanges in many forms, focusing on the young generation, contributing to consolidating solidarity and friendship between the people of Hanoi and Vientiane.
In addition, the Front of the two sides was requested to pay attention to supporting the Vietnamese community in Vientiane as well as Lao people, students, and pupils studying and working in Hanoi, creating conditions to stabilize life, study and contribute to common development.
Vice Chairman Cao Xuan Thao expressed his belief that, on the basis of the cooperative relationship that has been built, the Hanoi Front and the Lao Front for National Construction of Vientiane Capital will continue to have many practical and effective activities, contributing to fostering Vietnam-Laos friendly relations.
