On June 17, the Military Command of Quang Lap commune said that the unit had just coordinated with the Command of Defense Area 1 of Lam Dong province and the commune police to successfully handle the MK82 bomb discovered in the border forest area between Quang Lap commune (Lam Dong) and Anh Dung commune (Khanh Hoa).
Previously, on June 13, after receiving a report from people, functional forces of Quang Lap commune quickly crossed forests and dangerous terrain to be present in sub-zone 330 bordering Anh Dung commune (Khanh Hoa).
The forces quickly cordoned off the protection zone and coordinated with engineering and military forces to survey and assess the current situation, and develop handling plans.
Through inspection, functional forces determined that this was an MK82 bomb left over from the war, weighing about 350kg.
Because the bomb was located in a deep area, with dangerous mountainous terrain, near streams, approaching and deploying the handling plan was difficult.
The forces then crossed forests and streams to approach the scene, performing their duties according to technical procedures, ensuring absolute safety.
During the detonation process, forces closely coordinated to protect the scene, control the dangerous area, and prevent people from approaching the handling site.
At the same time, propagate and mobilize people to move people and livestock out of the affected area to ensure safety.
