On the morning of September 23, Colonel Nguyen The Vinh - Commander of the Military Command (CHQS) of Da Nang City - headed a working delegation to directly inspect disaster prevention and control, search and rescue work in Hung Son commune.
The focus of the working session is to solve the long-term safety problem for 40 households in Ga Ry village - households that have been urgently relocated from areas showing signs of landslides in the past time.
Working with the delegation were representatives of leaders of Hung Son Commune People's Committee, Commune Military Command and Ga Ry Border Guard Station. The delegation conducted field surveys of points at high risk of landslides, inspected disaster response plans, the ability to mobilize forces, vehicles and coordination mechanisms between units stationed in border areas.
Due to its complex mountainous terrain, Hung Son commune regularly faces the risk of landslides and flash floods every time there is heavy rain, directly threatening the lives and property of people. Concluding the inspection, Colonel Nguyen The Vinh requested the Military Command of Hung Son commune to carefully review key areas, supplement plans for disaster prevention and control and search and rescue close to the reality of each area.
The unit must specifically identify forces, vehicles, evacuation locations and be ready to deploy immediately when there is heavy rain, absolutely not to be passive when landslides or flash floods occur.
The Commune Military Command needs to continue to advise the Party Committee and local authorities, closely coordinate with the Ga Ry Border Guard Station and forces stationed in the area to proactively grasp the situation, issue warning messages and support the people. "All rescue and relief activities must put the safety of people and participating forces first" - Colonel Nguyen The Vinh emphasized.
For the 40 households in Ga Ry village who have been relocated, the Commander of the City Military Command assessed that timely evacuation has helped people avoid immediate dangers. However, to ensure long-term safety when the rainy and storm season approaches, Hung Son Commune People's Committee needs to urgently review the land fund and soon propose a suitable resettlement plan to submit to competent authorities for consideration.
On this occasion, the Da Nang City Military Command visited, encouraged and presented 40 gifts (worth 1 million VND/gift) to support 40 households in Ga Ry village to overcome difficulties and soon stabilize their lives in temporary accommodation.
