According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, last night and this morning (December 12), the mountainous and midland areas of the North had rain and showers.
The Northeast region, the west of Phu Tho province and the east of Son La and Lao Cai provinces from the night of December 12 to the end of December 13 are forecast to have moderate rain, heavy rain and scattered thunderstorms, locally very heavy rain with common rainfall of 30 - 70mm, some places over 120mm.
The area from Thanh Hoa to Hue city in the afternoon and night of December 13 is forecast to have moderate rain, heavy rain with common rainfall of about 30 - 60mm, locally very heavy rain over 100mm. Warning of the risk of heavy rain over 100mm/3 hours.
The meteorological agency forecasts that from December 14, heavy rain in the above areas will gradually decrease.
During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind. The warning level of natural disaster risk due to heavy rain, tornadoes, lightning, and hail is level 1.
Heavy rain is likely to cause flooding in low-lying areas, urban and industrial areas; flash floods on small rivers and streams; landslides on steep slopes. Regarding the rainfall trend in the next month, in the Northern regions, Thanh Hoa and the North of Nghe An, the rainfall will be from 30 - 60mm, the southern region of Nghe An and Ha Tinh will be 70 - 150mm, 5 - 20mm higher than the average of many years.
From Quang Tri to Da Nang city, the coastal areas of Quang Ngai to Dak Lak and northern Khanh Hoa provinces will have rain from 70 - 150mm, some places over 200mm (commonly 20 - 50mm lower than the average of many years).
The Central Highlands region has a total rainfall of 5 - 15mm, 5 - 10mm lower. Other areas are generally expected to have rain from 20 - 40mm, 5 - 10mm lower than the average of many years in the same period.
