In the evening and night of May 9, the North and Thanh Hoa will have scattered showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy rain with rainfall from 15 - 30mm, locally over 60mm.
In the mountainous areas of the North during the day and night of May 10, there is a forecast of moderate rain, heavy rain, locally very heavy rain and thunderstorms with common rainfall from 20 - 50mm, some places over 100mm.
In the Northern Delta and midlands in the afternoon and night of May 10, there is a forecast of moderate rain, heavy rain, locally very heavy rain and thunderstorms with common rainfall from 30 - 70mm, some places over 150mm.
The North Central region from the afternoon of May 10 to the morning of May 11 is forecast to have moderate rain, heavy rain, locally very heavy rain and thunderstorms with rainfall from 30 - 70mm, some places over 150mm.
The meteorological agency warns of the risk of local heavy rain (rainfall of 80mm within 6 hours). The warning level of natural disaster risk due to heavy rain is level 1.
During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind. Heavy rain is likely to cause flooding in low-lying areas, urban and industrial areas; flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides on steep slopes.
The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting predicts that from May 11, heavy rain in the above areas will gradually decrease.
