On the afternoon of October 16, Phu Loi Ward Police and Ho Chi Minh City Forest Rangers made a record of receiving the handover of a crossbow chicken from the people.
Previously, Mr. Pham Tan Thanh (in Phu Loi ward) discovered a bird-like animal in a tree branch in his garden, so he went to check.
Seeing the animal with a strange shape, suspected to be a rare animal, Mr. Thanh used his phone to take a photo, then reported it to the local authorities.
While waiting for the authorities to arrive, Mr. Thanh saw the animal jumping from the tree and locked it up.
The ward police and forest rangers then came to inspect and determined that this was a low-altitude reptile, so they proposed to accept it from the above household.
This individual is identified as a hip-headed rooster, also known as a rooster (Tragopan temminckii) in the Vietnam Red Book and is classified as group IB - a group of endangered and rare animals that need to be prioritized for protection. This species is strictly prohibited from hunting and trading for commercial purposes, except in special cases for research or conservation.
The People's Committee of Phu Loi Ward said that after receiving information from the people, the authorities arrived to work. To ensure the safety of this individual, the above-mentioned rooster was transferred to a rescue station under the Ho Chi Minh City Forest Protection Agency for raising.
