On the afternoon of October 13, Truong Son Forest Protection Department coordinated with the People's Committee of the commune and Truong Son Commune Police to hand over a pink bird (Buceros bicornis) to the Center for Rescue, Conservation and Development of Life organics of Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park (Quang Tri Province) for care and rescue before releasing it back into the natural environment.
According to Mr. Pham Hong Khanh - Head of Truong Son Forest Protection Department, after a long period of heavy rain, a strange bird flew into Mr. Vo Xuan Quoc's garden, residing in Long Son village, Truong Son commune, Quang Tri province. Realizing that this was a rare bird, Mr. Quoc proactively notified the forest rangers, police and local authorities.
Through verification, the authorities identified this as the Red-crowned Crane, one of the large horn-throated birds, weighing about 2kg, belonging to group IB - an endangered, precious, rare species according to the list of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment. This species is on the list of priority protection according to the provisions of Vietnamese law and the International Convention CITES.
On the same day, Truong Son Forest Protection Department coordinated with the People's Committee of the commune and Truong Son Commune Police to complete the dossier and hand over the bird to the Center for Rescue, Conservation and Development of Life, Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park for care and recovery before releasing it back into the wild.
