Heavy rain lasting for many hours combined with flood discharge from upstream hydropower plants caused the water level of the Hoai River to rise, causing serious flooding in the Hoi An ancient town area (Da Nang).
From noon on October 27, floodwaters rose rapidly, causing many ancient streets of Hoi An such as Bach Dang, Cao Hong Lanh, Tran Hung Dao... to turn into rivers. A series of people's vehicles continuously stalled while trying to cross deeply flooded areas.

Pushing the car into a dead end in the flooded lane until knee, Mr. Nguyen Tan Luc (36 years old, character name requested change, working in Hoi An ancient town) - informed that despite trying to avoid deeply flooded roads, his car could not escape the scene of a dead end.
"This afternoon, I had to take my motorbike to check in, but after a few kilometers through flooded areas, the motorbike stalled. The water rose very quickly, rising 30-50cm in just half an hour. Many people around here are now also closing their doors and parking their vehicles on drier streets" - Mr. Luc said.

On Nguyen Thi Minh Khai street, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa (40 years old, living in Hoi An ancient town) is also asking her boat to move her motorbike to a safe place.
According to Ms. Hoa, since this morning, many vehicles have tried to enter deeply flooded areas, causing their engines to stall. People's travel is even more difficult as the rain has not stopped and the flood water is rising, so she chose to park her motorbike at an acquaintance's house and then walk home.

Information from the People's Committee of Hoi An Ward said that heavy rain combined with upstream hydroelectric reservoirs regulating water has caused flooding in many areas in the area. At 4:00 a.m. on October 27, the flood level measured was 1.78 m and it is forecasted that in the next 12-24 hours, it may exceed alert level 3.

In response to this development, local authorities have also put up warning ropes in deeply flooded areas, and advised people to limit travel to prevent drowning accidents.
If the flooding continues, the locality will consider evacuating people on the spot to ensure the safety of life and property.
