Representatives of the meteorological agency gave the latest comments on the situation of rain and floods on rivers in the Central region in the coming days.

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Huong - Head of Weather Forecast Department, National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting - due to the influence of cold air combined with disturbances in the easterly wind zone, many places in the Central region continue to have heavy rain, locally very heavy rain.

From 1 to 4.11, the area from Ha Tinh to Da Nang City, Dong Quang Ngai will have heavy to very heavy rain and thunderstorms with rainfall of 300 - 600mm, locally over 900mm.

The areas of South Nghe An, Central Quang Ngai, and East Gia Lai will have heavy to very heavy rain and thunderstorms with rainfall of 100 - 300mm, locally over 450mm.

Representatives of the meteorological agency also gave the latest comments on the flood situation on rivers in the Central region in the coming days.

Currently, the water level on rivers from Quang Tri to Quang Ngai is fluctuating at alert level 1 - alert level 2; the water level on Ngan Sau River (Ha Tinh) at Chu Le station is below alert level 3; Kien Giang River (Quang Tri) at Le Thuy station, Bo River (Hue city) at Phu Oc station, Huong River (Hue city) at Kim Long station; Tra Khuc River (Quang Ngai) is above alert level 2.

Warning from November 1 to 6, on rivers from Ha Tinh to Quang Ngai, Dak Lak, floods and flood peaks appear on rivers.

Ha Tinh: Ngan Sau River, Ngan Pho to alert level 2 - alert level 3.

Quang Tri: Gianh River to alert level 2 - alert level 3; Kien Giang River, Thach Han River to alert level 2 - alert level 3 and above alert level 3.

Hue City: Bo River, Huong River rise to alert level 3 and above alert level 3.

Da Nang City: Vu Gia - Thu Bon River will rise to alert level 2 - alert level 3 and above alert level 3.

Quang Ngai: Tra Khuc and Ve rivers will be raised to alert level 2 - alert level 3 and above alert level 3, and the Se San river will be raised to alert level 1 - alert level 2.

Small rivers, upstream rivers in Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Khanh Hoa will rise to alert level 1 - alert level 2 and above alert level 2.

''There is a high risk of widespread flooding in provinces from Ha Tinh to Quang Ngai. Flash floods and landslides on steep slopes in mountainous areas of provinces from Nghe An to Quang Ngai' '', Mr. Nguyen Van Huong added.

Of which, Ha Tinh has 47 communes/wards; Quang Tri has 30 communes/wards; Hue City has 19 communes/wards; Da Nang City has 62 communes/wards; Quang Ngai has 52 communes/wards, Gia Lai has 36 communes/wards at very high risk of flash floods and landslides.

Real-time warning information of flash flood and landslide risks is updated at https://luquetsatlo.nchmf.gov.vn and in separate warning bulletins.

Forecast and warning information is calculated based on the assumption of regulating the operation of upstream reservoirs. The Hydrometeorological Agency will continue to update bulletins when there are changes in the discharge flow of reservoirs.
