Lam Dong - Prolonged heavy rain has caused river and stream water to rise, causing flooding in many localities. Dozens of households have been supported to evacuate to safe places.

In the late afternoon of September 10, in Nam Gia Nghia ward, the water level of Dak Nong stream rose, the flow was strong due to prolonged heavy rain.

According to local authorities, during the day, water began to flood into some houses. In many households, water outside the yard rose more than half a meter, causing difficulties for travel and living.

Mr. Tran Kim Sam, in Residential Group 2, Nam Gia Nghia ward, said that the rapid rising water caused his family to worry. People had to prop up, move property and continuously monitor water levels.

Nam Gia Nghia Ward People's Committee has mobilized militia and local forces to support people in moving property. Areas at risk of deep flooding are being surveyed and monitored.

Mr. Phan Van Quoc - Chairman of Nam Gia Nghia Ward People's Committee - said that the locality maintains forces on duty; and at the same time monitors the water situation on the Dak Nong River to proactively plan responses.

In Ta Dung commune, heavy rain from September 9 to the morning of September 10 caused flooding and landslides in many areas. Common rainfall is 30 - 40mm, in some places over 70mm.

On September 10, about 34 - 35 households in residential clusters 14, 16, Dak R'mang 1 village were affected by rising water.

In Dak R'mang 3 and Dak Nang 2 villages, many landslide points caused soil and rocks to spill onto the road surface, obstructing traffic.

The Task Force of Ta Dung commune has supported people to raise their assets and relocate to Le Loi Primary School, Dak R'mang 1 hamlet branch and houses of households in higher areas.

Due to complicated weather developments, the locality also let students at some school sites in Dak R'mang 1 and Dak R'mang 2 villages be off school from September 10 until the weather and traffic ensure safety.

According to records, heavy rain also caused local flooding in Quang Hoa, Truong Xuan, and Dam Rong 2.

Localities are maintaining 24/24 hour duty forces in key areas, ready to handle landslides and support people.
