Da Nang spends nearly 500 billion VND to urgently build embankments to prevent landslides on the Thu Bon River and Hoi An sea, before the rainy and storm season.

Da Nang will invest nearly 500 billion VND to urgently build Thu Bon river embankment and Hoi An sea embankment, to prevent landslides, protect people, tourists and infrastructure before the 2026 rainy and storm season.

On April 24, Da Nang City People's Committee announced - it has just issued an order to build an emergency project to overcome the embankment line protecting the Thu Bon River in the An Luong area, Duy Nghia commune and the erosion situation of Hoi An beach.

The project is implemented in the context of riverbank erosion and coastal erosion diễn biến phức tạp, directly threatening people's lives, tourism activities and river and coastal infrastructure systems. The goal is to respond and immediately overcome the consequences of natural disasters, minimizing damage in the approaching 2026 rainy and storm season.

Da Nang City People's Committee assigned the Da Nang Traffic and Agricultural Construction Investment Project Management Board to manage and organize the project implementation.

The total estimated investment cost is about 498 billion VND. Of which, the item of emergency remediation of the Thu Bon river protection embankment in An Luong area, Duy Nghia commune is about 210 billion VND; the item of emergency remediation of coastal erosion in Hoi An is about 288 billion VND. The project is expected to be completed in 2026.

In the An Luong area, the Thu Bon River protection embankment will be built to prevent riverbank erosion, ensuring the safety of people's lives and property. The embankment line basically follows the current embankment peak road, divided into 2 sections, with a total expected length of nearly 1.5km.

Previously, at the end of 2025, landslides in this area forced the army, police and people to use sandbags to temporarily reinforce the Thu Bon riverbank. This is only a temporary solution while waiting for solid works.

For Hoi An beach, the project will build a dyke to prevent erosion, protect residential areas, assets and coastal works. The project is also expected to contribute to the regeneration of the beach in the project area.

The Hoi An sea dyke line basically follows the existing coastline, suitable for terrain conditions, forming a smooth line and connecting with existing works. This item is divided into 3 areas, with a total expected length of nearly 2km.

Da Nang City People's Committee requests the Project Management Board for Investment in Construction of Transport and Agricultural Works to urgently deploy the selection of contractors for surveying, designing, supervising, and construction; complete the dossier of remedial plans, organize construction and acceptance of works according to regulations.
