On February 24, information from Da Nang City People's Committee, this locality has just issued an urgent request, requesting units to proactively plan water storage and request hydropower reservoirs to prioritize water sources for downstream areas.
To proactively serve people's livelihoods and production, the Chairman of Da Nang City People's Committee requested water exploitation units in the area (such as Da Nang Water Supply Joint Stock Company, Da Nang Irrigation Exploitation One Member Limited Liability Company...) to urgently dredge water intake gates at pumping stations, culverts, canals and ditches; install and operate makeshift pumping stations to respond promptly. The city emphasizes the spirit of "self-reliance", requiring units to have water intake plans that are not completely dependent on the discharge of water from hydropower reservoirs.
In addition, water storage in lakes, ponds, low-lying areas and temporary dam construction to prevent saltwater intrusion and retain fresh water must be implemented drastically before the peak period of drought.
For hydropower reservoir owners in the Vu Gia - Thu Bon river basin (such as Song Bung 2, Dak Mi 4, A Vuong, Song Tranh 2...), Da Nang City People's Committee requests reservoir operation according to the 1865 Procedure to ensure safe water supply until the end of the dry season.
Reservoirs are only allowed to offer electricity to the electricity market according to the requirements on time and discharge flow in accordance with regulations. In all power generation operation situations, units must still ensure priority for providing sufficient water for the living and production needs of the downstream area.
The Department of Agriculture and Environment is assigned the task of monitoring and closely supervising the water level of reservoirs, advising city leaders to adjust the water discharge regime of An Trach reservoirs and dams when necessary.
People's Committees of communes and wards are assigned the task of propagating and closely monitoring production and business activities within the protection and hygiene area of the domestic water intake area.
The city strictly prohibits the act of discharging waste and bringing waste into the water supply area. If acts causing pollution or risking water source insecurity are detected, local authorities and functional agencies must promptly prevent and strictly handle them according to the provisions of law.
