4 police officers take turns donating blood to save patients

A terminally ill patient in Quang Nam has overcome the critical stage thanks to the timely blood donation of four police officers.

On February 12, Captain, Doctor Tran Van Thuc - Deputy Head of the Quang Nam Provincial Police Infirmary said that 4 police officers from the Provincial Police Logistics Department had just participated in an emergency blood donation of more than 1,000ml of blood, contributing to saving the life of a terminally ill patient from a critical condition.

Previously, the Provincial Police's Live Blood Bank Club received information about patient T.A.Q (70 years old, residing in Tam Ky City, Quang Nam Province) with end-stage chronic kidney failure, being treated at the Department of Nephrology, Quang Nam General Hospital, needing support of 4 units of type O blood for emergency transfusion.

Four officers including Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Tran Thanh Hai, Major Dang Thanh Thinh, Major Nguyen Quoc Quang, and Major Tran Dong Trieu volunteered to donate blood urgently from February 10 to 12 to save lives.

After receiving a timely blood transfusion, patient T.A.Q overcame the difficult stage of treatment and his health gradually stabilized.

“The Quang Nam Provincial Police’s Live Blood Bank Club currently has more than 100 members, operating for more than 5 years. With the spirit of “when people need, when people are in trouble, there is the Police”, we regularly and urgently donate blood hundreds of times. Thereby, helping many patients overcome critical conditions” - Captain, Doctor Tran Van Thuc shared.
