8 habits that seem good but if overused will have "the opposite effect"

There are many daily habits that we think are good for our health, but if overused, they can even be harmful. Here are some habits that most of us have and need to review, according to Brightside.

1. Brush your teeth right after each meal: Brushing your teeth twice a day is a good habit, but brushing your teeth right after eating is another matter. Brushing your teeth immediately after eating can cause you to lose your teeth faster than taking care of them. If you just eat or drink something acidic, don't brush your teeth too early, otherwise, you can remove tooth enamel. wait at least 30 minutes to an hour after eating to get your toothbrush.

2. Drinking too much water: Drinking too much water is actually dangerous as the kidneys cannot remove excess water. Our bodies are different, you may need more or less than 8 glasses of water a day. However, doubling that number is unnecessary.

3. Abuse of functional foods: Taking too much functional foods is a bad habit. For vitamins, high-dose vitamin supplementation does not prevent some health problems and can even harm health. Instead of using functional foods, try to choose a varied diet that includes protein, carbohydrates, and fats from natural foods.

4. Eat more carrots to brighten your eyes: Although carrots are a healthy vegetable, they are rich in vitamin A that can help improve eyesight. However, eating too many carrots with the desire to improve eyesight is an incorrect habit. Eating a lot of carrots can cause carotenemia that causes skin to change color because beta-carotene is in carrots.

5. Use plenty of sunscreen: Using sunscreen regularly is a good habit. Sunscreen can protect us from some skin diseases, but that does not mean you will use too much. Overusing sunscreen can cause vitamin D deficiency. Experts recommend that sun exposure for 10-15 minutes a day to supplement vitamin D is necessary to prevent osteoporosis.

6. Drink smoothies instead of meals: In fact, smoothies bring many health benefits such as helping to beautify the skin and supplementing vitamins. However, for those who have the habit of using smoothies instead of meals, it is not as good as we think. Smoothies mainly contain fruit, water and milk, it will not provide you with the necessary nutrients that the body needs to function. In addition, many smoothies that contain a large amount of fruit and eat it all at once can increase blood sugar levels, leading to insulin spikes.

7. Get as much sleep as possible: Sleep is essential for health so that we have a good spirit the next day. But that does not mean that we maintain the bad habit of sleeping too much. If you sleep too much, you may experience some uncomfortable mental problems such as lethargy and fatigue.

8. Eat less carbohydrates (carbs): Many people think that eating less carbs is a good habit for weight loss. In fact, the keto diet has become popular because many people actually lose weight when applying it. However, when we do not eat carbs, our bodies will convert the remaining fat into the energy we need to function. In the long run, not eating carbs will not be beneficial to the body, which can make you tired. We should eliminate processed carbs from white flour or white sugar.
