After nearly 1 year of construction, Lao Cai High School for the Gifted has taken shape and is in the final stages to reach the finish line.
Started in February 2024, the Lao Cai Specialized High School construction project was approved by the Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee to be implemented in the 2021-2025 period with a total investment of 350 billion VND.The new construction project of Lao Cai Specialized High School is invested by Lao Cai Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board with the construction scale including the following items: Classroom block, subject - principal - examination; library - hall with 2 blocks with a total construction floor area of about 34,849 m2; canteen and service block with a total construction floor area of about 1,184 m2.Other items include a multi-purpose gymnasium with a total floor area of approximately 3,815 m2; a kitchen and student dormitory with a total floor area of approximately 6,103 m2; exterior and auxiliary works, technical systems, and fire prevention and fighting systems.In the first days of 2025, according to the reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper at the large construction site of the project, the sound of machinery and the voices of workers created an extremely vibrant and urgent working atmosphere.After completion, Lao Cai High School for the Gifted will be a highlight of highland education with its synchronous, modern and smart facilities. The quality of education - training students towards global citizens with outstanding qualities and abilities. The school strives to reach level 4 accreditation standards by 2030.According to a representative of Duc Tuan Construction Investment Company Limited, this is a key project of Lao Cai province, therefore, to ensure the work is on schedule, the unit is currently mobilizing about 300 workers, along with many types of machinery to work on the construction site every day.Through research, the project's contract implementation period is from February 2024 to July 2025. However, the project is currently being accelerated, striving to basically complete all rough items by April 2025.Looking at the province's new school that is gradually being completed day by day, Ms. Nguyen Thi Nhung (Lao Cai city) excitedly said: "Just a few months ago, we saw that they had just started construction, but now many large buildings are almost completed. Hopefully, after this school is completed and put into use, the quality of education in Lao Cai will be further improved."Currently, most of the classrooms, multi-purpose halls, and sewers have been completed... Workers are building a pedestrian bridge between the two buildings and pouring concrete for the stadium.Talking to Lao Dong, Mr. Truong Van Bay - Deputy Project Manager said: "The project has now completed about 70% of the work. The buildings have finished the rough construction, workers are constructing the remaining items. We are constantly monitoring, directing and striving to complete this new school according to the plan if the weather is favorable."
Taking advantage of favorable weather, hundreds of workers and machines focused on bringing the project to the finish line as planned.
Lao Cai High School for the Gifted was established in July 2003.
In 2009, the school was recognized as a National Standard School for the period 2009 - 2010. In 2010, the school was awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Prime Minister. In 2023, Lao Cai Specialized High School was awarded the Third Class Labor Medal by the President.
Up to now, the school has had 2,221 excellent students at the provincial level; 556 excellent students at the national level.
In 2024, Lao Cai High School for the Gifted won 6 medals at the Scientific Conference of specialized schools in the Northern Delta and Coastal region.
