The first Vietnamese to win the world cat contest

The competition, organized by the Vietnam Animal Protection Association - Vietnam Cat Association, took place on November 2 and 3, to find cats that won the titles of World Champion and World Master.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc My - Chairman of the Vietnam Animal Protection Association shared: “In addition to the participation of more than 50 domestic cats, there are also 30 cats from abroad with diverse breeds, many of which have achieved international titles. Each cat will go through 4 rounds of competition, under the judgment of international judges from Germany, Latvia, the Netherlands,... to select the most beautiful contestant. The cat's evaluation criteria are based on appearance, health, and friendliness in accordance with international standards.

Sufian Bin Mohat (Malaysia) brought two Maine Coon cats to the competition, including a “super giant” cat that attracted attention. Sufian said that this was his first time coming to Vietnam to attend the WCF World Show. “To make my cats look like little lions, I feed them fresh food, seeds and the best supplements. The total cost of care is about more than 1,000 USD per month,” he shared.

The cat that won the World Cat Championship this year is Cindy Idrine, an 11-month-old longhair Persian cat. Her owner is Ploymada Laosamathikul (from Thailand).

At the World Champion in the neutered cat category, the cat named Xau, 1 year old (Bengal cat breed). The cat's owner is Mr. Nguyen Quang Minh from District 12, Ho Chi Minh City and this is the first time a Vietnamese has won an award at this competition. "I participated in the competition with the main desire to learn from experience, so when I won the award, I was extremely surprised. I want to spread the message that Western and Vietnamese cats are equally worthy of respect and hope that after the competition, people will love animals more," Mr. Minh shared.
