Currently, Hanoi is exploiting two lines and sections of the urban railway line including: the Cat Linh - Ha Dong Metro Line and the elevated section of the Nhon - Hanoi Railway Station Metro Line.
According to the plan, the city will build 15 urban railway lines and sections with a total investment of about 55.4 billion USD.
Hanoi people are very happy with this information. With 15 more urban railway lines, the traffic face of the capital will change, be modern, convenient and safe.
These 15 public transport routes will reduce the number of private vehicles, Hanoi will minimize the current traffic congestion.
When there are many urban railway lines and many areas are connected, people will choose this means of transportation. Reducing cars and motorbikes, not only limiting traffic congestion, but also reducing emissions, Hanoi will be less polluted.
The modern urban railway system will limit motorbikes that people voluntarily switch to public transport, and prohibit motorbikes in some areas. With that, Hanoi will be more civilized, a more spacious and beautiful city.
However, what people are interested in is that the government can do it, make a commitment when to start construction and when to complete each urban railway line.
Hanoi plans to complete the construction of nearly 97km of urban railway from now until 2030, including lines 2, 3.1 and 5.
The 5-year target for 97 km is a huge challenge for managers.
Because, it should be mentioned again, the Cat Linh - Ha Dong urban railway line is 13 km long but took 10 years to build, and was delayed many times, the total investment of the project had to be adjusted from 552 to 868 million USD.
The people of the capital once " ran out of faith" in this project because they had broken their promises many times.
Reiterating the above story to express hope, that it will never be able to resumes a long-term project, causing many consequences and running out of confidence like that.
From now until 2030, complete 3 urban railway lines and put them into operation, the government should make a commitment.
When will the remaining 12 routes be completed?
People need a decisive, strong and confident answer from the government.
It is also appreciated to reiterate and direct the Hanoi Party Congress on the morning of October 16, General Secretary To Lam requested to completely resolve four long-standing problems of the capital, including traffic congestion.
To completely resolve traffic congestion, the transport infrastructure system and public transport must be completed. In which, urban railway is the main means.
