Ensuring the highest rights of voters from early votes

Hoàng Lâm |

On March 8, in some special areas in An Giang, Khanh Hoa and Quang Tri provinces, voters went to early voting in the election of delegates to the 16th National Assembly of Vietnam and delegates to the People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term. This is not new, but always carries a special meaning: Putting the interests and the right to mastery of the people first.

Election is a basic political right of citizens, guaranteed by the Constitution and law. In areas with specific geographical conditions such as border areas, islands, where armed forces perform regular duties, or areas with special security and defense factors, early voting is a flexible solution to ensure that all citizens can exercise their voting rights.

Many early voting areas are border areas, where officers and soldiers are performing the task of protecting national sovereignty; or areas where people have to travel far, with special living conditions. If waiting until the official election day of the whole country, not everyone has the conditions to fully participate.

Therefore, holding early elections is not only a technical solution in election work but also a specific manifestation of the principle of democracy: Every citizen has the right and practical conditions to exercise their right to vote.

A noteworthy point is that in early voting areas, the atmosphere of elections is still very solemn and responsible. Many voters are cadres and soldiers on duty at the front lines protecting borders and islands; some people have to be away from their families and residential areas for a long time. Their votes not only show citizens' rights but also show responsibility for the future of the country.

It can be said that early elections are a testament to the spirit of "leaving no one behind" in the political rights of citizens. Whether in mountainous areas, border areas or islands, whether they are officers and soldiers on duty or people living in remote areas, all voters are given conditions to exercise their right to mastery.

This further affirms that Vietnam's election organization is increasingly professional, flexible and close to reality. Not every region applies a rigid model, but localities can proactively organize according to specific conditions, as long as they ensure compliance with the law and the rights of voters.

The joyful atmosphere filled with faith from the early votes in the front lines of the Fatherland on March 8th will surely add inspiration for the official election day, March 15th, to truly be the Festival of the whole people.
