Local people monitor and know about illegal mineral exploitation in the commune with an area of over 20 hectares.
A very strange thing is that for a long time, vehicles and machinery for sand and gravel mining have been operating continuously but have not been detected and handled by the authorities.
Machinery and equipment are in front of the eyes, but the local government does not "see" it, that is what people are concerned about.
Lao Dong reporters spent many days to access the illegal sand and gravel mining area but could not get inside because there were iron fences surrounding the construction site, security guards, and used walkie-talkies to contact when strangers were present.
On the afternoon of November 1, Lao Dong Newspaper reporters coordinated with the working group of Da Huoai 2 commune to enter the illegal mineral exploitation area.
At the scene, there were more than 10 piles of sand and gravel with a total estimated weight of over 1,000m3; 2 excavators, 2 dump trucks and many people were being exploited, along with items for sand screening.
The question is why the illegal sand and gravel mining site is operating vigorously in the area but the local government has not detected or handled it.
Mr. Ho Van Khanh - Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Huoai 2 commune - said that after receiving feedback from a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, the locality directed a quick response team to the scene to check.
Mineral exploitation activities in Da Huoai 2 commune have been going on for a long time, not just once or twice, when Lao Dong Newspaper reported that it was very unconvincing.
Mr. Ho Van Khanh affirmed: "The commune's viewpoint is to strictly handle violations of illegal mineral exploitation, in accordance with legal regulations".
If the leaders of Da Huoai 2 commune do not promptly handle this case, Lam Dong provincial authorities need to step in, check, and clarify:
The People's Committee of Da Huoai district (old) has issued procedures to confirm whether the multi-purpose land use plan for both production and development of agricultural tourism for businesses is in accordance with regulations or not?
The People's Committee of Ha Lam commune (old) has inspected and discovered that the landowner has leveled the land in the wrong location and has imposed administrative penalties. But then, the landowner continued to illegally exploit minerals, why didn't the government take measures to prevent it?
After the merger, illegal mineral exploitation activities here continue to take place, why don't the leaders of Da Huoai 2 commune handle it?
Create maximum conditions for people and businesses to do business, but must comply with legal regulations. For illegal mineral exploitation to occur, local authorities cannot take responsibility.
