The construction sites of Can Tho - Ca Mau and Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang expressways at the end of the year are a vibrant picture. Here, workers and engineers work tirelessly to ensure construction progress. With the maximum mobilization of human and material resources, the projects are not only trade routes but also symbols of the perseverance and will to overcome difficulties of Vietnamese workers.
The spirit of working in 3 shifts and 4 shifts is not strange to national key projects. Looking back, we have witnessed the miracle in the 500kV third circuit Quang Trach - Pho Noi transmission line project, where thousands of workers and engineers worked day and night to complete one of the most important energy projects in the country.
Now, at the Western highway construction sites, that spirit continues to be maintained, forming the foundation for the success of projects of strategic and national importance.
Working through Tet, without holidays, always facing time pressure and huge workload, workers and engineers at the Western Expressway projects deserve to be recognized. Hot meals, fresh milk boxes, small rewards from the main contractor are practical encouragement for workers to confidently complete their tasks.
However, workers at these projects need more than that. Contractors and investors should have special treatment for workers working in such harsh conditions. In addition to high salaries and big bonuses, policies such as comprehensive health insurance, compensatory vacation after the project or even gratitude programs should be implemented to create more motivation. This is not only a way to motivate the workforce but also demonstrates the social responsibility of businesses participating in the project.
Furthermore, in the context of urgent work, labor safety is always the top priority. Heartbreaking stories from labor accidents in many large and small projects in the past always remind us that, no matter how important the progress target is, the safety of workers must always be put first.
Contractors need to invest in protective equipment, provide regular safety training, and closely monitor work processes on site. Speeding up progress, working two to three times as hard as each person, high salaries, and big bonuses, but without ensuring worker safety, everything is meaningless.
