Regarding roads, during the year, the Ministry of Transport started 08 projects, completed and put into operation 07 projects, bringing the total number of kilometers of highways nationwide to 2,021 km.
The Ministry has reviewed and developed a detailed plan, and directed investors and contractors to resolutely organize and implement the goal of completing 3,000 km of expressway by 2025. At the same time, the Ministry has completed the selection of investors for 8 rest stops and is inviting bids for the remaining 13 stations.
Regarding public investment disbursement, in 2024, the Ministry of Transport was assigned about VND 75,481 billion (of which VND 71,288 billion was assigned and extended according to the 2024 plan; VND 4,193 billion was additionally assigned from November 2024).
It is expected that by the end of December 2024, the Ministry will disburse about VND 60,200 billion, reaching 80% of the plan and striving to reach 95% of the plan by the end of the fiscal year. With the above results, the Ministry of Transport continues to be one of the ministries, branches and localities with the highest average disbursement level in the country.
Regarding freight transport, in 2024, freight transport output is estimated to reach 2,450 million tons, an increase of 14.5% over the same period in 2023.
Of which, aviation increased by 20%, road increased by 15.2%, waterway increased by 14.5%, sea transport increased by 14%, and railway increased by 12%.
Passenger transport is estimated to reach 4.7 billion passengers, an increase of 11.2% compared to 2023, of which aviation increased by 5.1%, sea transport increased by 17%, railway by 16%, road transport increased by 15.3%, and waterway increased by 10.1%.
Also in 2024, the National Assembly approved the investment policy for the high-speed railway project on the North-South axis.
In addition, the Ministry of Transport will coordinate with localities to put the elevated section of the Nhon - Hanoi Railway Station line into operation in August 2024 and the Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien line in December 2024.
Regarding aviation, in 2024, the National Assembly approved adjustments to the investment policy for the Long Thanh International Airport Project.
The progress of Long Thanh International Airport project and T3 Passenger Terminal project - Tan Son Nhat International Airport is basically guaranteed, especially DATP 2, DATP 3 Long Thanh International Airport has many items exceeding the plan.
According to the Ministry of Transport, in 2024, the Ministry completed the set plan, making an important contribution to the country's socio-economic development, which was recognized and highly appreciated by the Party, State, and public opinion.
