More than 3 years have passed, but Ms. Nhi still cannot forget the truly desperate days when Da Nang was locked down to fight the COVID-19 epidemic. She faced real difficulties, but could not ask for help from anyone.
“During the most difficult times, I turned to the Trade Union and received unconditional support many times. The trade union members at all levels in Da Nang City are always the warm shoulders of us workers...” - she emphasized.
Nationwide, there are millions of “Sister Nhi” who have such special feelings for the Trade Union organizations at all levels. The words they use may be different, but in the end, it is still the gratitude that the Trade Union organization has brought to them through the care in many aspects, from material to spiritual.
The care that trade unions at all levels provide for their local workers is myriad and cannot be fully described in a short article, and every program is meaningful and practical. Let me just review a few recent events and figures, for example Resolution No. 06/NQ-TLD dated January 16, 2023 of the Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor on supporting union members and workers whose working hours have been reduced or whose labor contracts have been terminated due to businesses cutting or reducing orders.
From October 1, 2022 to December 31, 2023, trade unions at all levels have spent more than VND 141,190 billion to support 99,539 people. Of which, the total number of union members supported is 98,066 people (accounting for 98.52%) of the total number of people supported.
In particular, trade unions at all levels are not only a “warm shoulder” for their members and employees, but this warmth is also spread to many other components of society. The most recent is the amount of more than 13.6 billion VND from the contribution of 1 day's salary of civil servants, public employees, members and employees nationwide sent to the people of the northern provinces and cities affected by storm No. 3 (storm Yagi).
For a worker who has not yet joined or is about to join the Vietnam Trade Union, the first and constant question is “What benefits do I get from joining the Trade Union?”. The answer from the trade union officials is often very long because there are so many benefits. However, caring work, or touching stories about “warm shoulders” are always the top priority answers.
Reality also shows that the Union organization almost devotes all its resources to taking care of its members and employees, which also brings double benefits. Because it is no longer a simple care but a companionship with the Government and the business community to share difficulties, build harmonious labor relations and, more importantly, the belief in a guarantee that tomorrow will be brighter than today!
