That is one of the contents of Resolution No. 71-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in education and training development that has just been issued.
People across the country are excited by this good news and believe that in 5 years, Vietnamese students will receive textbooks provided by the state, parents do not have to worry about buying books for their children.
This is the desire of every family, especially families in difficult circumstances, in remote areas. For these families, the cost of buying textbooks for their children is a concern, many people cannot afford to buy books for their children.
There are many cases of children dropping out of school because their families are poor and cannot buy textbooks. Therefore, providing textbooks to all students also creates fairness and equality in access to education.
No child is left behind in their studies, to do this, Vietnam has a policy of tuition exemption.
Public school students are exempted from tuition fees, non-public students are supported for free, which is a big policy that people enjoy.
At the 48th session, the National Assembly Standing Committee gave opinions on the draft Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Education Law held on August 13, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man reiterated a number of breakthrough policies from the 2025-2026 school year, including tuition exemption.
Chairman Tran Thanh Man said: "This is an unprecedented historic decision. In the world, statistics show that only about 30 countries have this policy.
In the coming year, by 2030, students nationwide will be provided with free textbooks. With this superior policy, Vietnam can stand shoulder to shoulder with leading countries in education development.
But the problem is, if every year a new textbook is printed and distributed free of charge to millions of students, it would be a waste.
Therefore, to effectively implement the provision of textbooks and avoid waste, from this school year, it is necessary to train students to know how to preserve textbooks. Students must be aware of preserving books without damage or dirt, so that books can be used many times, bringing long-term benefits.
Teaching students to carefully preserve books, so that the next grade has books to study, that is also an education of good virtue for our children.
Free tuition and free textbooks for students will create opportunities for all children to go to school. Education is a national policy that not only has the slogan hanging on the walls, but through practical and humane policies, people can reach and enjoy it.
