The leader of the Eye Center - Hue Central Hospital said that on September 27, when receiving information about the cornea donation wish of a 41-year-old male patient, brain dead at Binh Dinh General Hospital from the National Organ Transplant Coordination Center, the unit's doctors quickly collected corneas and performed transplants for 2 patients: A 40-year-old female (from Gia Lai) and a 50-year-old male (from Thua Thien Hue).
Then on September 30, the Eye Center - Hue Central Hospital received corneas from another brain-dead donor, 36 years old, at Nghe An General Hospital.
After careful screening, corneas were successfully transplanted into two patients: a 30-year-old male (from Gia Lai) and a 65-year-old male (from Thua Thien Hue).
Previously, all four patients had spent long years living blind, unable to see light and life around them.
At the discharge ceremony, four corneal transplant patients voluntarily registered to donate their organs after death.
