Drinking too much water after exercise
After exercising, sweating a lot, drinking too much water at the same time can dilute electrolytes in the blood, leading to hypoglycemia.
This causes dizziness, nausea, convulsions and can more seriously lead to a coma. A case that has been recorded is a marathon runner who fainted due to cerebral edema after drinking too much water.
After exercising, you should combine water with electrolytes such as sodium and potassium. You can choose a low-sugar sports drink or add a little salt to the water.
Replace filtered water with sugary drinks, soft drinks
Drinking sugary drinks and soft drinks instead of water for a long time does not help replenish water effectively, but also puts a burden on the kidneys and increases the risk of metabolic disorders.
Drink mainly boiled water to cool. Other drinks such as soups or soft drinks should only account for less than 10% of the total daily water intake. Prioritize diluted soups with low oil and salt.
Drink plenty of water after dinner or right before bed
Drinking too much water in the evening can make you wake up to urinate many times, causing insomnia, vegetative neuropathy disorders and increasing the burden on the kidneys at night.
We should only drink a maximum of about 20% of the total amount of water per day after dinner and should not drink more than 150 ml within 3 hours before going to bed.
Do not drink water in cold weather or sit in a refrigerated room
Low temperatures reduce the feeling of thirst, causing many people to forget to supplement water. However, the body is still dehydrated through breathing and skin. Blood clotting for a long time can increase the risk of stroke and heart attack.
We should maintain the habit of drinking water regularly, every 2 hours, even when we do not feel thirsty.
Drinking water for the first time too late
After waking up, the body is dehydrated and the blood tends to thicken. Slow water replenishment in the morning can cause fluctuating blood pressure, stroke, heart attack and increase the burden on the kidneys.
We should have a cup of warm water on the bedside and drink about 250 ml right after waking up.
