On November 15, Hoang Anh Gia Lai University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital said that it had just successfully treated a 2-year-old child.
According to the family, about 3 days before being hospitalized, P.A.D. (2 years old) was taken out to play at the playground. While playing, the child may have accidentally swallowed a penny but the family did not recognize it.
About 3 days later, the child showed symptoms of a lot of coughing and was taken to the doctor. When taking a chest X-ray to check for pneumonia, the doctor discovered a quarter of a third of a foot in the stomach.

Because the child is suffering from pneumonia, anesthesia to remove a foreign object is likely to pose many risks, so the team was forced to treat the patient's breathing stably first. The hospital has coordinated with the Department of Pediatrics to effectively handle children's respiratory problems.
During 6 days of treatment in the Pediatric Department, the baby was continuously and closely monitored. On the morning of November 13, 2025, the child underwent an anesthesia and the coins were removed safely, leaving no complications.
Doctors warn that children can easily swallow foreign objects while playing. Parents need to monitor stars, especially in public playgrounds, and take their children to the doctor immediately when there are signs of abnormality.
