On August 21 to 22, the Center for Disease Control (CDC) of Cao Bang province organized a training course on school health work and school disease prevention and control for 25 students who are school health officials in the province.
Speaking at the training class, Ms. Trieu Nguyet Hoa - Deputy Director of CDC Cao Bang province - emphasized that school health plays an important role in providing primary health care for students, contributing to the formation of hygiene habits, physical exercise and disease prevention.
However, currently in Cao Bang, the school health staff is still lacking and mainly part-time, leading to many limitations in health monitoring, first aid and disease prevention.
Therefore, organizing training courses will help improve professional capacity, strengthen coordination between the health and education sectors, towards effectively implementing the School Health Program for the period 2021-2025.
In the program, students are updated with many practical contents such as: overview of school health work; age-based nutrition and school meal organization; poisoning prevention and food safety; injury prevention; identification and prevention of harmful effects of addictive substances; some common diseases in students along with appropriate health education and communication methods at school.
In addition, students are also instructed on planning, managing students' health, statistics and reporting on the results of school health activities.
After the training course, students will re-deploy and instruct commune, ward and teacher health workers at schools, contributing to improving the effectiveness of student health care and preventing school-age diseases in the whole province.
