Carbohydrates
Carbohydrates are the group of nutrients that are digested and absorbed the fastest by the body. This is the main source of energy for all activities of life, from muscle movement to brain activity. Carbohydrates in white rice are digested, absorbed quickly and converted into glucose that can be used directly as fuel.
When metabolized, carbohydrates are completely burned, creating carbon dioxide and water, without the intermediate products that cause degradation. Therefore, carbohydrates are considered the most suitable and effective source of energy among the three groups of essential macronutrients for humans.
Protein
Protein plays an important role in building muscle, blood formation, maintaining skin elasticity and brightness, while making hair strong and shiny. However, protein is not an optimal source of energy.
If the diet only focuses on protein, the body will be forced to use protein as a alternative. At that time, protein no longer promotes the effectiveness of tissue building function but only serves basic activities, causing waste and creating metabolic pressure for the body.
Fat
Fats, which include animal fats and vegetable fats, are twice as high in calories as carbohydrates and protein. After being absorbed, part of the fat can be converted into carbohydrates for energy.
However, when the body lacks carbohydrates, protein and fat will have to be replaced. This process requires the liver and kidneys to work harder to metabolize, thereby creating unnecessary burdens for these organs.
