Selybiosis - a threat to public health
scoliosis is a serious acute infectious disease caused by scoliosis bacteria that cause meningitis and sepsis. This bacteria is divided into 12 different serum groups, of which groups A, B, C, X, Y and W are the most common and most dangerous.
At a scientific conference with the theme "Journey for a Vietnam without group B brain-spinal cord disease" organized by the Institute of Preventive Medicine and Public Health (YHDP & YTCC) in collaboration with GSK Vietnam, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Kinh - Vice President of the Vietnam Medical Association - said: In Vietnam, the number of cases of brain-spinal cord disease is on the rise.
Based on data from infectious disease monitoring software according to TT 54/2015/TT-BYT, from the beginning of the year to September 15, 2025, the whole country has recorded 38 cases of celebrity tissue infections, of which the North recorded an increase of 45% and the Southern region recorded an increase of 83% compared to the whole year of 2024.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), vaccination is one of the most effective measures to prevent some common types of bacterial meningitis, including meningitis caused by scoliosis.
WHO aims to defeat meningitis by 2030 with a strategy to eliminate epidemics from bacterial meningitis, reduce the number of cases of meningitis caused by bacteria that can be prevented by vaccines, reduce the number of deaths from the disease, and reduce the rate of disabilities and improve the quality of life after meningitis of any cause.

The safety of vaccines is always a top priority
According to TTUT, MSc. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Anh Tuan, Director of the Center for Clinical Biomedicine Testing and Science and Technology Services, Pasteur Institute of Ho Chi Minh City, advances in vaccine technology open up new possibilities in preventing diseases caused by scoliosis bacteria.
The new approach focuses on identifying least modified origin, expressed in many strains of group B brain stem bacteria to expand protection.
In addition to advanced technology, the safety of vaccines is always a top priority. Common reactions in common vaccines include: Pain, redness at the injection site or fever.
Although the reactions after this vaccination are often mild and temporary in most vaccines, early recognition of unusual signs and careful consultation before and after vaccination is very important, helping to ensure vaccine safety and increase confidence in the vaccine program against scoliosis. - Dr. Anh Tuan added.

Dr. Pham Thi My Lien, Chairwoman of GSK Vietnam shared: We believe that when the community joins hands to spread information and act for health, we can write a new chapter where scoliosis will no longer be a threat. Each shot of vaccination today is not only a shield against diseases caused by brain and spinal cord diseases, but also a foundation for Vietnamese children and adolescents to grow up healthy".
The serotypic group of globular brain bacteria is diverse, distributed differently and can vary by geography and time. The pathogenic bacteria are often concentrated in healthy people with trieueraticparasite, which can be transmitted from person to person and can cause infected people to develop meningitis.
