According to Notice No. 378/TB-VPCP on the conclusion of Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long regarding the second facility of Viet Duc Friendship Hospital and Bach Mai Hospital, the Deputy Prime Minister requested to put the two hospitals into use before November 30, 2025 to serve people's health care, avoid waste and contribute to improving the quality of medical examination and treatment.
The Ministry of Health coordinates with Bach Mai Hospital and Viet Duc Friendship Hospital to review, develop a list and implement a plan to purchase medical equipment in person.
At the second facility of Bach Mai Hospital, 91/266 devices will be purchased using this method with a total value of about 508/1,100 billion VND. Meanwhile, facility 2 of Viet Duc Friendship Hospital will apply the same for 107/367 devices, worth about 442/1,148 billion VND.
According to Associate Professor, Dr. Dao Xuan Co - Director of Bach Mai Hospital, facility 2 of the hospital in Ninh Binh province is preparing to purchase medical equipment with a total capital of more than 1,100 billion VND, expected to officially come into operation from December 2025.
Mr. Co said that this investment package was approved from the state budget, focusing on the most basic and necessary equipment such as ultrasound machines, magnetic resonance imaging, CT scans... to serve the initial medical examination and treatment work. In the next phase, the hospital has submitted to the Ministry of Health a plan to invest in the world's most modern equipment system such as Robot surgery, proton computer chupage machine, Hybrid operating room, etc., and at the same time apply information technology to synchronize data with facility 1, towards a smart hospital model.
In the operating plan, the hospital will rotate the medical staff between the two facilities, and at the same time train more resident and nurse doctors to ensure professional quality. When put into operation in parallel, facility 2 will help patients from Ha Tinh, Nghe An, Thanh Hoa or neighboring provinces such as Hai Phong, Ninh Binh... conveniently visit, reduce travel costs and limit congestion in Hanoi. Bach Mai Hospital also recommended that Ha Nam province establish a bus route connecting the two facilities.
Facility 2 of Bach Mai Hospital and Viet Duc Friendship Hospital in Ninh Binh (old Ha Nam) was implemented under Decision 125/QD-TTg dated January 16, 2014 of the Prime Minister, in the Project "Investing in the construction of 5 new central and final hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City". The goal is to build modern, synchronous hospitals that meet international standards, improve the quality of medical examination and treatment, transfer technology, train human resources and reduce overload as well as people having to go abroad for treatment.
The project has been implemented since 2014, initially expected to be completed in 2017 but has been extended to the end of 2025. Each hospital has a scale of 1,000 beds.
Of which, Bach Mai, Facility 2, has a total investment capital of VND4,990 billion (VND4,500 billion from the budget, VND490 billion from other sources), land area of 20.07 hectares, construction floor 118,941 m2. The examination area was inaugurated in October 2018 and was put into use in the period of March 2019 - March 2020 before temporarily suspending operations.
Viet Duc Friendship Hospital, Facility 2, has an investment capital of VND 4,968 billion (VND 4,500 billion from the budget, VND 468 billion from other sources), land area of 21.44 hectares, construction floor of 117,714 m2.
