On November 17, speaking with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Dr. Ha Cong Thang - Director of Mai Chau Medical Center - said that Pa Co commune is currently recording 30 cases of rash fever suspected of measles, of which 3 cases have tested positive.
According to accumulated statistics, 30 cases of the disease appeared everywhere in many classes of Hang Kia B Primary and Secondary School, Hang Kia Kindergarten and 1 case in the community.
Notably, out of 5 new cases recorded on November 14, 4 children had been vaccinated with 2 doses and 1 child had just been vaccinated with 1 dose, showing the strong spread in a crowded school environment.
The patients are being treated at medical facilities.
As soon as the case appeared, the health sector and the People's Committee of Pa Co commune implemented a series of measures: isolating sick students, closely monitoring schools and communities, disinfecting classrooms and living areas, and communicating in Mong language to instruct parents to recognize symptoms and care for children at home.
According to the Mai Chau Regional Medical Center, the source of infection cannot be clearly identified. Pa Co is an area with a large number of tourists, regularly doing business with Hanoi and Moc Chau area (Son La). Some children who have been treated for the disease in Moc Chau have returned to their hometowns, increasing the risk of pathogenic infection.
Chairman of the People's Committee of Pa Co commune - Mr. Tran Van Truyen - affirmed that the locality is determined not to let the epidemic spread. "The commune mobilizes maximum forces from village officials to community health groups, ensuring that there are no households that have not been propagandized or have not been vaccinated. Anti-epidemic work is being deployed continuously every hour to control the outbreak, Mr. Truyen emphasized.
Mai Chau Regional Medical Center will continue to closely monitor the development of the epidemic, detect suspected cases early, and disinfect regularly at schools and households with young children.
