On April 13, Kon Tum Department of Health announced that, in the first 3 months of 2025, the whole province recorded 820 cases and suspected measles/rubella. Among them, 754 cases were hospitalized for treatment, an increase of nearly 700 cases compared to the same period in 2024.
The localities have a high number of cases including Kon Tum City (261 cases), Dak Ha district (136 cases), Ngoc Hoi district (93 cases) and Kon Plong district (84 cases). In particular, most measles cases are children who have not been vaccinated or have not reached the age of vaccination.
In order to control the situation and prevent the spread of the disease, the provincial health sector has implemented the campaign to "go to each alley, knock each house, review each object".
This campaign aims to propagate the danger of measles, the importance of vaccine, and effective preventive measures.
Up to now, Kon Tum province has vaccinated measles for 12,623 children, of which: 4,993 children from 1-5 years old, reaching 97.3%; 2,570 children from 6-9 months of age, reaching 97.8%; 5,060 children from 6-10 years old, reaching 97.6%...
In addition, the health sector has organized vaccinations for 1,294 medical staff in the high risk group. The immunization campaign has been completed, exceeding the set target (over 95%), contributing to improving the vaccine coverage.
Thanks to these measures, Kon Tum province expects to boost community immunity, limit the spread of disease and minimize macadamia and measles deaths.
