On August 7, Dr. Van Nhat Minh - Head of the Neurosurgery Department, Quang Tri General Hospital said that the unit had just successfully operated on a difficult case, after surgery the patient recovered unexpectedly and was discharged from the hospital.
Previously, Ms. Ho Thi P.U (born in 24, residing in Khe Sanh commune) was taken to Quang Tri General Hospital by her family for emergency treatment in a state of weakness, beauty, loss of balance and a large tumor on her head.
Through examination, doctors discovered a brain lining tumor measuring nearly 10cm located in the equator. This is a rare case with a large tumor that has developed for a long time but has not received medical intervention.
According to the patient's family, the tumor appeared many years ago, causing prolonged pain. However, due to difficult economic circumstances, the family did not take her to a specialist's examination.
Faced with the critical condition, the Neurosurgery Department conducted a 3-hour surgery. The surgical team meticulously removed part of the tumor, while preserving maximum brain tissue and the blood vessel system.
After surgery, the patient recovered quickly, had no major complications, no more headaches and was discharged from the hospital on August 6.
This is a difficult case because the patient is elderly, has a large tumor and is at high risk of complications. However, thanks to the close coordination of the team, the surgery was a great success" - Doctor Van Nhat Minh shared.
