The People's Committee of Binh Duong province held a meeting to consider and give opinions on the draft decision to end the operation of regional general clinics under district-level health centers.
In the province, there are currently 19 regional general clinics that are equivalent to departments under the health center to serve the issuance of documents and papers related to medical examination and treatment.
According to the Binh Duong Department of Health, the current operating model of regional polyclinics has some shortcomings. Notably, the use of headquarters with commune and ward health stations causes overlapping in terms of human resources, functions and tasks, especially in the work of initial medical examination and treatment.

In addition, it does not meet the technical requirements of medical examination and treatment facilities according to the general clinic model prescribed in Articles 40 and 42, Decree No. 96 of the Government detailing a number of articles of the Law on Medical Examination and Treatment.
The efficiency of the regional general clinic is low, the capacity of hospital beds is very low, there are no inpatients; the amount of consumables is high; the number of annual medical examinations is low.
Therefore, it is necessary to end the operation of a regional general clinic. Thereby avoiding waste and effectively using the resources of the health sector.
It is expected that after the end of the operation of 19 regional general clinics, the Binh Duong Department of Health will regulate and reallocate the existing staff and personnel to medical centers and health stations. The facilities will be reviewed and redistributed to commune and ward health stations.
