On April 16, the Hope Foundation and Hanoi Medical University Hospital signed a cooperation agreement to implement the "Sun of Hope" program, to support treatment costs for pediatric patients in difficult circumstances.
According to the cooperation content, the program will support children from 0 to under 18 years old from poor, near-poor households or those with confirmation of difficult circumstances from the locality. Priority subjects include children with cancer and children of ethnic minorities in mountainous areas.
The support level is applied to the remaining treatment costs after deducting health insurance and other support sources, if any.

Regular treatment cases are supported with a maximum of 30 million VND, while cases of surgery, stem cell transplantation or organ transplantation can receive a maximum support level of 100 million VND. For special cases, the support level will be considered for adjustment based on the actual situation and the consensus of both parties. Each pediatric patient can be supported up to twice a year, with a minimum interval between two support times of 6 months.
Expenses within the payment scope of the program include medical examination, beds, tests, medicines, medical supplies, intravenous fluids, procedures and surgery at publicly listed prices at Hanoi Medical University Hospital. The total estimated sponsorship cost for the hospital in 2026 is 400 million VND.
The signing with Hanoi Medical University Hospital continues to expand the companion network of the "Sun of Hope" program, bringing the total number of partner hospitals to 15 units nationwide. Previously, the program had coordinated with many large medical facilities such as the National Children's Hospital, Viet Duc Hospital, Hue Central Hospital, Children's Hospital 1, Children's Hospital 2...
At Hanoi Medical University Hospital, many families fell into financial crisis when their children were seriously ill. As in the case of child patient Lo Quynh Giang (14 years old, Son La) at the end of 2025, Giang suddenly suffered from cerebral hemorrhage due to cerebral vascular malformation and was transferred to Hanoi in critical condition. Doctors indicated that she needed angioplasty and surgery, with treatment costs exceeding the family's ability to afford. Through the connection of Hanoi Medical University Hospital, Giang became the first child patient to be supported by the "Sun of Hope" program, with a sponsorship budget of 50 million VND.
Implemented since March 2021, "Sun of Hope" is a cooperation initiative between the Hope Fund and the "Mr. Sun" program, aiming to support treatment costs for children with critical illnesses. After more than 5 years of operation, the program has supported more than 2,800 pediatric patients nationwide, with a total sponsorship amount of up to 61 billion VND.
In 2026, "Sun of Hope" aims to continue to accompany 1,000 pediatric patients, contributing to becoming a financial and spiritual support for families in their journey to treat their children's illnesses.
