The patient is Ms. V.T.H (41 years old), from Vi Xuyen, Tuyen Quang (old Ha Giang province). While working as a cook, Ms. H was unfortunately hit by a grass cutter, causing her right leg to break. Right at the scene, the co-worker promptly stopped the bleeding and quickly took the victim to Ha Giang General Hospital.
Here, the severed limb was refrigerated and transferred with the patient to the 108 Military Central Hospital about 9 hours after the accident.
Although the time to be brought to the hospital was later than the golden time to connect the limbs, thanks to the efforts of the medical team, the leg replanting surgery was successful. After a week of post-operative surgery, the patient's health was stable and he could move his toes.

Dr. Nguyen Quang Vinh, Department of Upper Examination and Microsurgery, 108 Central Military Hospital, said that the surgical team had carefully considered before performing the surgery because the risk of failure and poisoning after limb joint was very high, which could even affect life. However, with a spirit of urgency, the surgery was performed as quickly as possible and brought good results.
Dr. Vinh also emphasized that to increase the likelihood of success in connecting severed limbs, initial first aid and proper preservation are extremely important. The body needs to be washed preliminarily with clean water or saline, wrapped in a clean cloth or cloth (not too thick), put in a sealed plastic bag and place in a stone poster, absolutely do not let direct contact with cold ice.
"The ideal golden time to connect the limb is within 6 hours from the time of breakage, if properly preserved" - Dr. Vinh recommended.
