Pham Quang Linh (Quang Linh Vlogs) and Nguyen Thi Thai Hang (Hang Du Muc) and three others have just been temporarily detained by the Ministry of Public Security's Investigation Police Agency to investigate the crimes of Producing counterfeit food and Fraudulent to customers, according to Articles 193 and 198 of the Penal Code.
Previously, Quang Linh, Hang Du Cac and Miss Nguyen Thuc Thuy Tien livestreamed to introduce Kera vegetable candy - a product announced by CER company, produced in Buon Ma Thuot (Dak Lak).
Kera candy was once advertised as "a pillow to replace a plate of green vegetables". However, testing showed that the entire box of 30 capsules contained only 0.51g of fiber. In addition, the product also contains more than 10% Sorbitol - a substance with laxative effects.

According to the test results of the National Institute of Food Safety and Hygiene, reporting to the Food Safety Department (Ministry of Health), the targets of protein, sugar, fat, and total basic energy are in accordance with the announcement of the product, the safety targets of microorganisms, fungi, heavy metals ... are not detected or are within the safety limit. However, the National Institute for Food Safety and Hygiene has also discovered that the product containing sorbitol is a sweetener with a content of 33.4 g/100g but not written on the product label as prescribed.
According to the Food Safety Department, Sorbitol is an organic compound belonging to the sugar alcohol group (C6H14O6), has a sweet taste, is dissolved well in water and has fewer calories than sugarcane. This substance is industrial production from glucose through the process of hydrogenation with nickel, and also appears naturally in some fruits such as apples, pears, plums, etc.
In food, Sorbitol is used as a sweetener, moisturizer, softener and shinyener. It has mild antibacterial properties, helping to prolong storage time. According to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), food can contain up to 7% Sorbitol.
Sorbitol is also present in many products such as paint, detergent, polymer, medicine, sugar-free candy, cough syrup... Especially in pharmaceuticals, Sorbitol is used as a laxative, pharmaceutical drug, supporting the treatment of hyperkalemia and feeding bacteria.
However, when consumed more than 50g/day, Sorbitol can cause digestive disorders, diarrhea and affect the intestinal microflora. Consumers should read the product label carefully and use it at a reasonable dose to avoid side effects.
Sorbitol helps stimulate bowel movements by increasing permeability pressure, pulling water into the intestines, softening stools and increasing the frequency of large incidents. It also aids digestion by stimulating pancreatic secretion, improving the hydration and metabolism of food.
Basically, Sorbitol is a laxative, used in the treatment of constipation, indigestion, entericular colitis, irritable bowel syndrome, etc. In addition, Sorbitol is also used as a cleansing solution for urinary surgery.
