Informing Lao Dong, Mr. Pham Xuan Thanh - Vice Chairman of Yen Tu Ward People's Committee, Quang Ninh Province - confirmed on the evening of October 8 that a poisoning incident had occurred after eating at a wedding party in the ward.
Accordingly, at noon on October 5, a household in Dong Chanh village, Yen Tu ward held a wedding at home with the participation of about 420 people and hired a cook.
After attending the wedding, scattered from the afternoon of October 5 to the morning of October 6, many people had symptoms of vomiting, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. In total, more than 15 people had to be hospitalized at Vietnam - Sweden Uong Bi Hospital for emergency care.
Mr. Thanh said that immediately after receiving the information, the ward sent a team to check the family to organize a wedding party and took food samples to send for testing.
At the same time, the People's Committee of Yen Tu Ward also sent an official dispatch to the People's Committee of Uong Bi Ward to coordinate in verifying and inspecting the unit providing food for the wedding because this unit is located in nearby Uong Bi Ward.
However, according to Mr. Thanh, up to now, there have been no test results of food samples as well as verification by the People's Committee of Uong Bi Ward for the unit providing food for the wedding party, so there has been no official conclusion on the cause of the poisoning of dozens of people.
