A young British girl, only 19 years old, ended her last journey in Vietnam with a special gesture: Donating tissues and organs to save 3 patients with severe organ failure.
Information from Viet Duc Friendship Hospital said that patient O.S. W. (19 years old, British nationality) was admitted to the hospital in serious condition while traveling in Vietnam. Although doctors and nurses made efforts to save him, organized many consultations and applied the highest professional measures, the patient's condition did not improve. After many close assessments, the Professional Council concluded that the patient had brain death.
Faced with such a great loss, the young girl's family made a humane decision: Agreeing to donate her child's tissues and organs to save other patients. Overcoming the boundaries of nationality, skin color and cultural differences, that gesture has become a priceless gift of life for Vietnamese patients who are waiting for miracles every day.
In the moment of separation, relatives gave her hugs and farewell kisses. The pain of losing a child cannot be described in words, but in the midst of the ultimate loss, the family still chose to give hope of life to others.
Sharing in emotion, the girl's father said that the family believes that Vietnam is a land that his daughter has given a lot of love for. "Being able to contribute a little to Vietnam after my daughter spent her last time in this land is extremely meaningful," he said.
The mother also sent sincere thanks to the doctors and nurses and those who accompanied her family in her daughter's last days in Vietnam. She choked up and said that her daughter had beautiful last days, being loved and cherished every moment on this land. "This is our way of sending our most sincere thanks to everyone," the mother shared.
From the donated organs of the young girl, doctors at Viet Duc Friendship Hospital performed organ transplants for 3 patients. The departure at the age of 19 is a great loss for the family, but that noble gesture has opened up new life opportunities for many other people.
A trip has ended, but kindness remains. From the private pain of a family in a foreign land, 3 lives in Vietnam have been given hope of survival. It is not only a gift of life, but also a beautiful message about love, sharing and boundless kindness.
