Just a small mistake can overshadow union members' joy with poisoning and disease. Therefore, Hanoi's proactive tightening of food safety management before Tet is not only a requirement for urban management, but also a direct responsibility for the health and peace of millions of people.
Plan No. 336/KH-UBND of the Hanoi People's Committee on overcoming food safety "bottlenecks" shows a new mindset: Not following the movement, not only focusing on the peak, but towards methodical, sustainable, and in-depth management. The city sets the principle of "6 clear": Clear people, clear work, clear time, clear responsibility, clear products, clear authority.
It is noteworthy that Hanoi not only strengthens inspection and punishment but also focuses on "fulfilling" loopholes that have existed for many years. The establishment of a specialized interdisciplinary working group, moving towards proposing a specialized agency on food safety shows the determination to remove the overlapping situation, "no one cries at all". When responsibility is assigned to the right address, the risk of avoidance and push-ups will be significantly reduced.
In the context of the food market during Tet always being vibrant, diverse and uncontrollable, Hanoi's construction of a centralized, interconnected data system between departments, branches and localities, associated with traceability is a very remarkable step. Today's consumers not only need to "eat well" but also need to "eat clearly" - clear origin, clear process, clear responsibility. When data is digitized and transparent, fraud and dirty food will gradually be pushed back from the market.
Another highlight is the change in the way food safety communication is done. Instead of just general propaganda, Hanoi has shifted to multi-platform communication, according to target groups and risk groups, promoting the community's supervisory role. This is very consistent with the reality of large cities, where each citizen is both a consumer and can become an eyed to help detect violations. Food safety is therefore not only the responsibility of the authorities, but the common responsibility of the whole society.
It is impossible not to mention that the city has tightened food supply, especially "hot" items during Tet such as cakes, jams, wine, processed milk, cooking oil, etc. Sudden inspection, post-inspection, and strict handling of violations are clear messages sent to production and business establishments: profits cannot stand above public health. At the same time, the assignment of the People's Committees of communes and wards to comprehensively manage food safety at wholesale markets and traditional markets shows strong decentralization, close to reality, and in the right place for risks.
Of course, there is no perfect plan without the support of people and businesses. A safe food Tet cannot only rely on inspection teams, but requires the self-awareness of businesses and the alertness of consumers. Saying no to foods of unknown origin, not supporting unusually cheap, poor quality goods - that is also the way each person protects themselves and the community.
Hanoi is sending a clear message before the New Year: A happy Tet must go hand in hand with a safe Tet. When the city takes action early, doing from the root, doing with responsibility and determination, people's trust will be strengthened. A safe food Tet is not only a success of state management, but also the foundation for a civilized, livable capital - where union members' joy is complete, not haunted by unfortunate risks.
