From July 1, 2026, the official base salary will be adjusted to increase to 2,530,000 VND/month according to Decree 161/2026/ND-CP of the Government.
Currently, doctors are receiving salaries according to the coefficient specified in Decree 204/2004/ND-CP. Therefore, when the base salary increases from 2.34 million VND to 2.53 million VND/month, the actual salary received by doctors also increases correspondingly according to each rank and grade.
According to the new salary scale expected to be applied from July 1, 2026, doctors with the lowest salary are nearly 6 million VND/month, excluding allowances and professional allowances.
For the general doctor rank, the salary level 1 with a coefficient of 2.34 will increase from 5,475,600 VND to 5,920,200 VND/month, an increase of 444,600 VND. Meanwhile, the highest-ranking doctor of this rank with a coefficient of 4.98 will receive about 12,599,400 VND/month, an increase of more than 946,000 VND compared to before.
In the main doctor group, the salary level after adjustment ranges from about 11.1 million VND to more than 17.1 million VND/month. Specifically, grade 1 main doctors with a coefficient of 4.4 will receive a salary of 11,132,000 VND/month, an increase of 830,000 VND. For grade 8, with a coefficient of 6.78, the expected salary level will reach 17,153,400 VND/month.
Notably, the group of senior doctors continues to be in the area with the highest income in the salary system of the health sector. After July 1, 2026, the salary of senior doctors ranges from 15.6 million VND to more than 20.2 million VND/month. In which, senior doctors grade 6 with a coefficient of 8.0 will receive a salary of about 20,240,000 VND/month, an increase of 1.52 million VND compared to the present.
