According to Clause 7, Article 13 of Decree No. 188/2025/ND-CP of the Government detailing and guiding the implementation of a number of articles of the Law on Health Insurance at the time the health insurance card is valid for the subjects specified in Point b, Clause 4, Article 12 of the Law on Health Insurance who are students of general education institutions paying annual health insurance are as follows:
Grade 1 students: From October 1, the first year of primary school; from the last day of the school month to 72 months of age for the cases specified in Point b, Clause 2 of this Article clearly stated (in case of children born after September 30: from the date of birth to the end of the last day of the school month to 72 months of age).
12th grade students: From January 1 to September 30 of that year. Encourage grade 12 students to pay health insurance and receive health insurance support until December 31 of the final school year to continuously ensure health insurance benefits, without having to return the health insurance support fund from the state budget in case of changing subjects.
Clause 8, Article 13 of Decree No. 188/2025/ND-CP stipulates that the subjects specified in Point b, Clause 4, Article 12 of the Law on Health Insurance are students of universities and vocational training institutions who pay annual health insurance, including:
Students in the first year of the course: From the date of admission; in case the card of a 12th grade student is still valid after the admission date, it will be paid from the date the health insurance card expires.
Students in the final year of the course: From January 1 to the last day of the month at the end of the course. Encourage students in the final year of the course to pay health insurance and receive health insurance support until December 31 of the final school year to continuously ensure health insurance benefits, without having to return the health insurance support fund from the state budget in case of changing subjects.
