Drinking a lot of alcohol
Drinking a lot of alcohol, especially in the evening, can increase the secretion of hormones that cause vasoconstriction and high blood pressure. If this condition occurs frequently, the risk of high blood pressure and cardiovascular disease will also be higher.
Eat salty foods
Processed foods are often high in sodium. Consuming too much salt can cause the body to retain water, increasing pressure on blood vessel walls and causing blood pressure to rise.
To control sodium levels, prioritize self-cooking at home with fresh foods such as vegetables, fruits, lean meat, beans and whole grains. Instead of seasoning with a lot of salt, increase flavor with herbs and natural spices.
Using too many electronic devices in the evening
Using phones, computers or watching TV for too long in the evening can affect cardiovascular health and increase the risk of high blood pressure.
The reason is that sitting for a long time reduces movement, while stressful or stimulating content can make it difficult for the body to relax. In addition, staying up late to use electronic devices also reduces sleep quality. When you don't get enough sleep or sleep poorly, the body secretes more stress hormones, increasing heart rate, vasoconstriction and causing blood pressure to rise.
You don't need to completely quit watching TV or using your phone in the evening, but you should limit usage time so as not to affect bedtime.
Eat a lot of sweets in the evening
Eating candy, cookies or drinking soft drinks in the evening can cause blood sugar to rise rapidly, stimulating the body to secrete more insulin to bring blood sugar back to normal levels.
If this habit occurs frequently, blood sugar and insulin levels will become less stable, thereby indirectly affecting the blood pressure regulation process.
