Fried foods
The aging process creates many changes in the body, including the cardiovascular system. In your 50s and above, risk factors such as high blood pressure or weight gain are likely to appear, increasing your risk of heart disease.
To protect heart health, you should limit fried foods. This group of foods is often high in calories, unhealthy fats, and inflammatory compounds. Eating fried foods regularly can increase cholesterol, promote inflammation, thereby increasing the risk of heart disease.
Salty foods
Salt is an essential ingredient, but consuming too much can harm the heart. Most of the salt in the diet does not come from salt added to dishes, but from ultra-processed foods such as canned soups, processed meats, salty snacks, sauces and spices.
Cutting down on salty foods is important, as they can increase blood pressure. High blood pressure in middle age has been shown to be associated with future cognitive decline and increased risk of dementia.
