On the afternoon of the first day of winter, we went to Bao Hieu commune, Yen Thuy district (Hoa Binh) - where the funeral was being held for Ms. Bui Thi Kim Cuc (38 years old) - the unfortunate female worker who died in an accident on the evening of October 22 while on her way home from work.
An atmosphere of mourning enveloped the newly built small house in Hop Thanh hamlet; relatives and neighbors all felt sorry for the unfortunate woman.
The sobbing of the three children who lost their mother made witnesses feel heartbroken.
Mr. Bui Van Truong (38 years old - the victim's husband) tried his best to take care of his wife's funeral, but in the eyes of the father of three, there was still indescribable grief.
Speaking through sobs, Mrs. Bui Thi Thoi (victim’s relative) said that Mr. Truong was a freelancer and his wife worked as a factory worker. Working hard all year round, sunny days and rainy days, the couple always encouraged each other to try to raise their 3 young children and sick mother.
According to Mrs. Thoi, not long ago, thanks to the money saved and borrowed from relatives, she and her husband were able to build another house so that the family of 6 would have more spacious living space.
But happiness was short-lived, before the house could be completed, Ms. Cuc had an accident and passed away forever.
"The couple has 3 children, the oldest child Bui Anh Ngoc is only 14 years old, the second child Bui Duc Quy is 8 years old. The most heartbreaking is that Bui Quoc Hung is only 1 year old" - a relative said.
According to the family, due to lack of breath and breast milk, last night, Hung cried all night because he was thirsty for milk.
Feeling sorry for her younger brother, the eldest sister Ngoc Anh hugged him tightly to comfort him, but the youngest brother still did not stop crying. Only when he was tired did he fall asleep.
Perhaps, in the mind of a 1-year-old child, he only thought that his mother was going somewhere and would return in a few days, not yet understanding the pain of separation.
From now on, Ngoc Anh will be both an older sister and a mother to her siblings. She will have to be more mature than her peers to help her father teach her siblings to become good people.
Mr. Bui Minh Tuan, Head of Hop Thanh Hamlet, said that Ms. Cuc was a gentle, hard-working person who was loved by everyone. The incident left a sorrow for her family and the village.
Speaking to reporters, the leader of Bao Hieu Commune People's Committee said that after the accident, the local authorities visited and encouraged the family.
The leader also said that he hopes to receive support and companionship from benefactors so that the lives and path to school of the 3 children will not be interrupted.
