"Ms. Thuy is deceased. This morning, Ms. Thuy's rented house was flooded nearly 0.5m deep, with only the father and son left, no one could enter..." - that was a message from a union official sent to us on the morning of November 19, right before Vietnamese Teachers' Day.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy (born in 1980, former teacher at Vinh Hoa Kindergarten, Bac Nha Trang ward, Khanh Hoa province) is in a special situation.
Without a family, far from home, and carrying a chronic kidney disease, she still tries to stick with the teaching profession. After leaving her hometown to work in Khanh Hoa, she met and became a couple with a person from the same hometown.
After giving birth, her husband passed away, and she was diagnosed with stage 3 kidney failure. Life without relatives was already difficult, now even more confusing. After that, she was forced to send her child to a family in Hue so that she could have a better life.

For many years, the only motivation for her to hesitate treatment was the hope of seeing her child grow up.
Thanks to the support of colleagues at Vinh Hoa Kindergarten, Ms. Thuy steadfastly lived for another 17 years with a terrible disease, but all her assets were exhausted. In 2019, she found a dilapidated but cheap rental house, the landlord was in love and gave her a long-term rent.
Also there, she met Mr. Tran Van Thua - from Quang Nam - who was raising a young daughter with mental Development delays alone. The two people in the same situation stood at each other's side. The damp rented house suddenly became warmer since Mr. Thua and his son were by his side.
Every day, Mr. Thua drives a technology car to earn an income to take medicine for Ms. Thuy and take care of her children. Outside of work, Ms. Thuy takes care of Tran Bao Ngan (born in 2014), making up for the warmth of her mother who died when she was only 2 years old.

All three of them depended on each other to survive, in the room there was nothing but boxes of dialysis medicine. When her illness became more serious, Ms. Thuy quit her job to receive one-time allowances and insurance, and to collect treatment fees.
On November 18, my wife gradually weakened and passed away. When together, even though they know each other's illnesses, they love each other and try. Keep it a day. But now my father and I have nothing left..." - Mr. Thua said in tears.
On the morning of November 19, floodwaters rose deep, inundating a boarding house nearly 0.5m deep. Unable to cope, Mr. Thua had to sell his motorbike - his only asset and also his livelihood - for 7 million VND to take care of his funeral. "People say a funeral costs 22 million. I borrowed money to take care of my wife first, and my father and I will take care of our lives later" - Mr. Thua said choking up.
The circumstances of Ms. Thuy and Mr. Thua are particularly difficult. The Golden Heart Social Charity Fund calls on benefactors, organizations and individuals to join hands to support and share with families during this difficult time.
